Ractopamine concentration on the lipid profile of swine fat and meat Ciência Rural
Alencar,Stephan Alexander da Silva; Kiefer,Charles; Nascimento,Karina Márcia Ribeiro de Souza; Viana,Luiz Henrique; Gonçalves,Liliane Maria Piano; Rocha,Gabriel Cipriano; Corassa,Anderson; Abreu,Rodrigo Caetano de.
ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of ractopamine concentrations on swine fat and meat lipid profiles. Ninety finishing barrows, initially weighing 71.9±4.4kg, were distributed in a randomized block design in three ractopamine concentrations (0, 10 and 20ppm) with fifteen replicates of two animals in each. Gas chromatography was used to analyze the lipid profiles of backfat and meat. The inclusion of ractopamine in the diet changed (P<0.05) α-linolenic acid and eicosatrienoic acid concentrations in the backfat but did not affect (P>0.05) any of the other fatty acids or indexes evaluated. In the meat, a significant effect (P<0.05) was observed on nine fatty acids evaluated, with a decrease (P<0.05) in lauric, myristic,...

Ractopamine levels for finishing barrows maintained in heat stress R. Bras. Zootec.
Sanches,Josilene Figueiredo; Kiefer,Charles; Carrijo,Alfredo Sampaio; Moura,Mariana Souza de; Silva,Elizangela Alves da; Santos,Alexandre Pereira dos.
The objective of this study was to evaluate performance, quantitative characteristics of carcass, and visceral responses of barrows maintained on heat stress enviroment and fed diets supplemented with ractopamine. It was used 48 animals with initial weight of 67.3 ± 3.8 kg, distributed in a randomized block design with four levels of ractopamine (0, 5, 10 and 20 mg/kg), each one with six replicates with two animals each. The experimental period lasted 28 days. Air temperature was 31.8 ± 2.0ºC, air humidity was 72.6 ± 10.2% and BGHI was 82.7 ± 2.8. Daily feed intake was not affect by the levels of ractopamine but they improved feed conversion and increased daily weight gain and final weight of the animals. The carcass quantitative characteristics were not...

Yeast extract plus blood plasma in diets for piglets from 36 to 60 days old Ciência Rural
Pereira,Cinthia Maria Carlos; Donzele,Juarez Lopes; Donzele,Rita Flávia Miranda de Oliveira; Kiefer,Charles; Bernardino,Verônica Maria Pereira; Balbino,Eric Marcio; Rocha,Gabriel Cipriano.
ABSTRACT: To evaluate inclusion levels and residual effects of diets containing yeast extract (YE) plus blood plasma (BP) on the performance of 36 to 60-days old piglets, 105 piglets were used (8.75±0.72kg), and they were distributed under a randomized block experimental design with five treatments (control - 2.0% BP; 1.0% BP plus 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0% YE), seven repetitions, and three animals per experimental unit. Piglets were given experimental diets from 36 to 49 days of age. From 50 to 60 day of age, all piglets received the same diet. No effects from treatments (P>0.10) were observed on the performance variables from 36 to 49 day of age. From 50 to 60 day of age, an effect was observed from YE levels on the daily feed consumption (P<0.03),...

Yeast extract with blood plasma in diets for piglets from 21 to 35 days of age R. Bras. Zootec.
Pereira,Cinthia Maria Carlos; Donzele,Juarez Lopes; Silva,Francisco Carlos de Oliveira; Oliveira,Rita Flávia Miranda de; Kiefer,Charles; Ferreira,Aloízio Soares; Hannas,Melissa Izabel; Brustolini,Paulo César.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the inclusion of yeast extract as a partial replacemer of blood plasma in piglet diets and its effect on the performance and intestinal morphometry of pigs weaned at 21 days of age. One hundred and twenty animals were randomized into blocks, with five diets (4.0% blood plasma; 2.0% blood plasma with 0.0; 1.0; 2.0 or 3.0% yeast extract), six replicates and four pigs per experimental unit. At 35 days of age, one pig per experimental unit was slaughtered in order to evaluate duodenal and jejunal morphometry. The levels of yeast extract had a quadratic impact on daily feed intake and final weight, which increased up to the estimated level of 1.91%. Daily weight gain and feed conversion rate were not affected. A...
